Subscription Dates and Tenant Access
Full guide: see Subscription Duration and Status for how the period is measured and why stored status can lag behind, and What Happens When Your Subscription Expires for the complete per-operation table.
Subscription status and dates form the central plan-access gate, together with the tenant's own status. The latest subscription is evaluated; the gate distinguishes missing, not-started, expired, suspended, cancelled, and unassigned-plan states.
The access gate
Your organization can use Survanta normally while both of these are true:
- Your tenant status is
Active. - An
Activesubscription has started (CurrentPeriodStart <= now) and has not ended (CurrentPeriodEnd > now), or aTrialhas noTrialEndsAtor a future trial end.
If either is not true, your organization is treated as not active and new operations are blocked — regardless of how much of your usage limits remains.
What is blocked when expired or suspended
When your subscription has expired, or your organization is suspended, the following are blocked:
- Creating new surveys.
- Activating or publishing surveys.
- Submitting new responses (from researchers, mobile apps, and public links).
- Fetching survey runtime data through the app or API.
- Researcher operations that depend on active tenant access.
What is preserved
- Your surveys, responses, users, and files are not deleted.
- Explicit recovery route keys remain allowed: current/expired plan, billing, invoices, plan requests/requests, renewal, upgrade, contact-platform, and support.
A future valid-until date reactivates a subscription only when its stored status is Expired. Subscription suspension/cancellation and tenant suspension require their own valid lifecycle action.
How dates are set and shown
- A Platform Admin operating through a validated selected-tenant context can set
CurrentPeriodEnd. A past date changes an Active/Trial subscription to Expired; a future date reactivates an Expired subscription. - An authorized tenant user can inspect current operational subscription details at
/Tenant/Subscriptionand invoices at/Tenant/Invoices.
Subscription vs. usage limits
It helps to keep the two ideas separate:
- Subscription/dates decide whether you can operate.
- Usage limits decide how much you can do while you are operating.
A renewed-but-fully-used plan will still block new usage of any limit you have reached, and an active plan with capacity will still be blocked if the subscription has expired.
