Contacts & Communications Limits
The Contacts & Communications group sets how large your Contacts / Employees directory may be, how many Contact Groups organize it, and how many email attempts you may make to it.
The limits
| Limit | What it counts | Resets |
|---|---|---|
| Contacts / Employees | Active Contacts in your directory | Never — it is standing capacity |
| Contact Groups | Active Contact Groups | Never — it is standing capacity |
| Email sends | Email attempts to your Contacts (see Email sends below) | At the start of each monthly cycle |
Each Contact Group supports up to 100 Contacts at no additional charge. This is included with every Group automatically; it is not a separate option, and you never select or buy it.
Included in each plan
| Plan | Contacts / Employees | Contact Groups | Email sends per cycle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 500 | 10 | 1,000 |
| Professional | 5,000 | 100 | 10,000 |
| Enterprise | 50,000 | 500 | 100,000 |
| Custom Plan | Your choice | Your choice | Your choice |
Zero means not included
- Contacts / Employees = 0: the directory is not part of your plan. The Contacts / Employees pages are hidden, and nothing in the directory can be created, imported or exported.
- Contact Groups = 0: you can still keep Contacts; they simply are not organized into Groups.
- Email sends = 0: Email Campaigns are not included.
Contact Groups and Email sends both require Contacts. A Custom Plan with Contact Groups or Email sends above zero must also include a Contact capacity greater than zero.
What happens at the limit
Reaching a limit never removes anything. Existing Contacts and Groups stay viewable, editable and exportable; only additions beyond the limit are refused until capacity is raised or freed:
- a new or reactivated Contact beyond Contacts / Employees;
- a new or reactivated Group beyond Contact Groups;
- a 101st Contact in one Group.
Deactivating a Contact or a Group, or removing a Contact from a Group, frees its slot immediately. Excel imports check the same limits before anything is written and report each row that does not fit.
Email sends
Email sends count email attempts used, not emails that reached an inbox:
- each email counts once, when it is first handed to the mail server, even if it then fails or its outcome is unknown;
- sending the same email again (a retry) is not counted a second time;
- an email stopped before its first attempt (cancelled, or refused before sending) is not counted.
Your Account page shows the email attempts used in the current cycle and whether you can send now:
- "Email Campaigns are not available for this subscription." Email sends are 0 or not included, and nothing is sent.
- "Your email sending allowance for the current billing period has been used." Email Campaigns stay available, but new emails wait, uncounted, until the next cycle or until your capacity is raised. Emails already sent are not affected.
Lowering a limit
A downgrade never deletes Contacts, Groups or memberships. If you already hold more than the new limit, everything stays in place, and new additions are blocked until usage fits again.
