Renewing Your Subscription

A published guide from Survanta's public documentation.

Renewing Your Subscription

Renewal works the same way whether your subscription is still running or has already expired. Only the new dates differ, and the difference is deliberate.

The renewal steps

  1. A user in your organization with billing permission opens the renewal page and chooses the term.
  2. The renewal order is created and submitted.
  3. The platform team reviews and approves it. An invoice is issued.
  4. Payment is recorded — by the platform team, or by verifying the payment proof you supplied.
  5. The order is applied, and service is available again immediately.

Your organization cannot approve or settle its own order. Approval, payment recording, and proof verification are platform-team actions; this separation is what keeps the commercial record trustworthy. See Who Can Do What After Expiry.

Renewal always extends your existing subscription. It does not create a second subscription alongside it.

Renewing while your subscription is still active

Time you have already paid for is never lost.

The new end date is calculated from your existing end date, not from the day you paid:

New end date = current end date + purchased term

Your start date is left unchanged, because this is one continuous subscription that has been extended rather than a new one.

Example. Your period runs to the end of next month and you renew today for one more month. Your new end date is one month after the end of next month. Renewing early costs you nothing — you gain the full purchased term on top of what remains.

This is why renewing early is always safe.

Renewing after your subscription has expired

Once the period has passed, there is no unused paid time left to protect. The new period therefore starts when the renewal is applied:

New start date = the moment the renewal is applied
New end date = that moment + purchased term

The old, already-elapsed end date is not extended. Anchoring to a date in the past would sell you a period that had already gone by.

Example. Your subscription ended two weeks ago and you renew today for one month. Your new period runs from today for one full month. You are not charged for the two weeks in which the service was unavailable, and those two weeks are not added on.

Both cases at a glance

Situation New start date New end date
Renewing while still active Unchanged Current end date + term
Renewing after expiry The moment the renewal is applied That moment + term

Duplicate protection

Renewal is safe against repeats. If an approval or payment step is submitted twice, Survanta recognizes that the order is already applied and settled, and simply confirms it. Your period is never extended twice for a single purchase, and no duplicate subscription is created.

After renewal

Service comes back immediately, with no waiting period and no need for anyone to sign in again. See Data Safety and Recovery for exactly what resumes and what stays valid.
