Offline survey data collection

Yes — survey responses can be collected without an internet connection. A field researcher opens an assigned survey in the Survanta mobile app and enters responses offline. Work is saved on the device, completed responses are queued, and the queue is synchronised when connectivity returns and the app is open.

How it works

  • Work offline — A researcher opens an assigned survey and enters responses with no active connection.
  • Save and resume — Work is saved on the device, so a part-finished response can be resumed later.
  • Queued submissions — Completed responses stay queued on the device until a connection is available.
  • Sync — Queued responses are sent when connectivity returns and the app is open.

Offline collection requires an authenticated researcher account and an accessible, previously downloaded survey. The queue handles new responses, not anonymous offline answering or offline response edits.

What teams should expect

Synchronisation requires the device to be online with the app open. Queued responses are not sent while the app is fully closed, so teams should open the app once connectivity returns to clear the queue.
